Katherine Merritt, MA, AMFT, APCC is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#117735) and a Registered Professional Clinical Counselor (#7545) under supervision by Ashley B. Hurdle, PhD LMFT (#89073). A Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and Registered Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) is a clinician who has finished their master's degree and is currently working towards their state license, seeing clients under the supervision of a licensed therapist. An AMFT/APCC is essentially a therapist completing their training residency under careful supervision. Some of the benefits of working with an AMFT/APCC include reduced rates and the support of the additional supervising therapist, who will work closely with the AMFT/APCC to supervise their client cases and offer additional training and support.
Katherine received her Master’s in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University. In addition to her private practice, Katherine also provides therapy at the renowned Maple Counseling Center of Beverly Hills, where she receives additional psychodynamic training and supervision.
Katherine works with a range of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, life transitions and stress, and family issues. Katherine approaches her work from a psychodynamic framework, meaning she explores past and present material to support long-term changes and life fulfillment.
